Do you provide structural design?
Yes — we provide SIP building design and issue engineered line and point loads, followed by preliminary drawings for review. Foundations and slab engineering remain the responsibility of your structural engineer.
Once we receive your Building Regulations drawings package, we review the content to ensure it matches our scope of supply and estimate documents. At this point, our design team commences design on the project.
Drawings required are typically Building Regulations standard or construction issue in PDF and DWG formats, including:
-
Plans showing full build-ups and SIPs / timber frame positioning
-
Sections showing full build-ups and SIPs / timber frame positioning
-
Build-up details and specifications
-
Information on systems such as MVHR, underfloor heating or solar — including locations, weights and specifications
This information allows us to accurately set design parameters and value engineer the project by allowing for the required loadings, helping avoid unnecessary engineering and later rework.
The first issue of design coordination from SIP Build UK is the engineered line and point loads. These form a key part of your structural design below ground and within the structural slab ahead of our commencement on site. These loads must be issued to your structural engineer so they can be incorporated into the foundation and substructure design.
Please note: SIP Build UK is not responsible for foundation and slab engineering or detailing.
Once line and point loads are completed, we apply these to our initial designs and issue preliminary drawings (P1) for review, comment and approval. Each document is reviewed individually, with feedback provided using drawing status A, B or C.
